Tally ho! British Castle Cake For Family Bound For London.
This was a buttermilk and chocolate cake with a chocolate ganache and a buttercream icing. The flowers were made of vanilla , maple and chocolate buttercream. It took me about three days to make the cake, one to bake, one to decorate and one to assemble. The hardest bit was the castle itself, because it was made with candy.
As always, everything on the board is edible. So, that means that I have to be somewhat creative in terms of what I can use to make the various structures and architectural details. This cake was so much fun. But there again, they all are; I love baking for specific people and a special occasion.
My friend’s son, who is in the United States Air Force, was being transferred to England, for a 4 year tour with his family. I sure hope he gets to see his fair share of castles while over there.
