Chocolate Walnut Baklava
So, Connie – my friend at the Farmers’ Market in St. Augustine – told me that with February coming up I needed to make something with chocolate. What about chocolate baklava? Not just sprinkled with chocolate, but with a layer of real, thick, glirpy, velvety chocolate ganache. It’s like eating a candy bar, I’m told. Well, it sold out. Now, it’s a staple of mine.
A chocolate lovers’ dream, my chocolate walnut baklava combines the familiar nutty, syrupy Mediterranean pastry that is essentially walnuts, filo and honey and then I add layers of ganache. So simple, so tasty, so bad for a diet! <sigh>
